I haven't read the book yet guys, but as soon as I buy it.... I'm on it! “I know this great game we can play,” he continued, trying to sit on the stool across from me but missing the seat entirely because, one—he didn’t have eyes in the back of his head and two—he was too drunk to possess any type of balance. His free hand caught the side of the bar just as his knees buckled.

            Now I was looking down at him instead of across, still at a complete loss for words.

            Brown liquid sloshed over the rim of his glass and down his arm. “Whoa,” he half-moaned, half-laughed, then to my horror, licked the rivulets from his hairy forearm.

            I closed my eyes, counting backward from ten and praying that when I opened them again he’d be gone.

            No such luck.

            “It’s called dare,” he whispered, hot liquor breath fanning over my face because that’s where he was now. Standing right next to me, leaning down so his face was in mine, his eyes aligned with mine, his lips too damned close to mine.

            “I dare you to take your clothes off. And then I take my clothes off.”

            “And then I vomit all over both of us,” I quipped, finding my words before actually vomiting on this dirtbag.

            His hair was greasy and lay in a haphazard yucky mess while his half-closed eyes continued to glare at me. He looked like he was actually thinking about that as an option. I flattened  my palms against his chest and the sweaty T-shirt with the totally outdated and faded band logo on front and pushed him away.

            “Not interested,” I said in the clearest and loudest English I could manage.

            “That’s because I haven’t showed you my piece yet,” he told me just before lifting his arm and pushing it down between where my arms were still extended toward him. Fearing he was going for his “piece,” I yanked my arms back, about two seconds after realizing the jackass had been using the arm with the hand that held the half-empty glass of liquor, which now spilled down the front of his pants.

            “Bitch!” he yelled as his “piece” was now outlined by a growing wet stain.

My Take On The Book:

Wow… whoa… ummm O_o. For lack of a better descriptive word or eloquence, this book was simply ah-maze-ing. I want no need there to be a book 2 right this very second. I love those North siblings and if this book is anything to go by, the next installment whethter it be about Sam or Jules and Nate (idc I wanna read em all lol) <3 will be just as steamy if not better. The North family is not only littered with drool worth brothers but you’ve also got a completely awesome best friend in Jules and a totally loving and supportive family. This is a must buy book by an extremely talented author who is turning out to be one of my absolute favorites. Its an exceptional start to what I’m sure is going to be an exceptional series.

Finding Home is a dazziliing tale of war vet Jake North and the girl who has always loved him. Told in the female perspective of said girl and childhood friend Olivia ‘Liv’ Morrissey, you are introduced to a romance so profound your heart aches at times. Its beautiful and heartbreaking and a book I couldn’t bring myself to put down.

You are drawn into this tale from the go. I am personally the kind of reader that will read a book start to finish even if it’s a struggle, even if I want to skim over words and phrases (not that this was an issue while reading this book). I will literally read everything from the title page and copywrite page to the last sentence in the author bio… so its no surprise that I read the dedication page but it was so eloquently written, poetic and captivating that you forget its not necessarily part of the story. I was hooked, there is no other word for it, so hooked that instead of stopping when my kindle battery was dying, I cozied up next to the closest outlet, plugged it in, and kept reading. I may or may not have missed eating a meal or 2…

The Great (Pros):

• Characters. Good and bad, each character’s development was on point and I could find no errors in their story or back-story. It followed a steady line from beginning to end in the way of no alterations mid book. I really hate when an author can’t remember their own storyline or characters. If a character is motherless, blondem brown eyed and tall with a loyal personality they should stay that way throughout the entire book with the exception of personality traits altering due to story progression and obvious things like colored contacts and such. This book is the perfect example of that, characters stayed true to themselves and their story progression.

• Story. The story itself the one on the surface, the one you read about in the synopsis is a beautiful one… but once you actually read the book and you get to the story within the story, when you get to know the characters, their faults and their strengths, the things that define them that is even more beautiful.

• Research. While reading this book, if you pay attention, you will notice the hard work the author put into this book. Not only in the writing and character bios but also in the research. I can’t get into too much detail as it’s an important part of the story but I will say that it’s obvious how much love Allie gives her books.

• Music. One of my favorite parts about this book was the song name for each chapter. It helps to set the mood of each chapter and you can bet your ass that I have a ‘True North: Finding Home’  playlist on my ipod. Each song fit the chapter and its mood perfectly so I wouldn’t be surprised if they were played on repeat while she wrote each line.

• Cover. Once again, a perfect cover for the book. Beautiful and intriguing and helpful while imagining the characters and their romance.

• Relationships. The relationships in this story are breathtaking. I love the strong family ties and the support given to each other by the North family. But I also enjoy the contrast with between them and Liv’s family. While it’s a sad back-story, I happened to like the diversity. The interaction between characters was appropriate for their ages and their story. Nothing it the way they acted with one another or situations seemed off or uncharacteristic.

The Not So Great (Cons):

• Not a single thing except that I have to wait to get my next book fix ha ha.

It’s a sweeping romance with real problems and realistic characters. A book the focuses strongly on family love and support as well as the kind you find in a significant other. It is sizzling and sad all at once wrapped up in a nice little package of seamless and creative writing. If you're looking for a real world romance then this is definitely your book. Ms. Mousseau is one extremely talented writer with an uncanning ability to weave a tale with characters you really care about. It's another one of a kind. Kudos to her :)

My Take On The Book:

At times I adored this book, other times I had to stop myself from having an angry outburst. Even now after finishing my heart feels heavy and my throat tight like I might cry, but I guess that’s just the work of a good author. A good author is someone who can make you smile or scream at the injustice.

The story itself is not one of sadness, it’s about love and friendship but that doesn’t mean you won’t find a bit of heartbreak in this. I was originally attracted to the book because of the Sex & the City appeal, funny enough there are a few references to the show in this book.

The book starts off remarkably like a Carrie Bradshaw monologue. It the first chapter you are introduced to 1 of the main characters, Natalie Pepper or Pepper for short. She’s just arriving in NYC from her San Fran copyediting job  and while scared, she’s excited and seems to love the city as much as her TV counterpart. But other than this, there aren’t many other similarities to the popular show. It’s a book with its own merit and it shows on every page. I couldn’t decide my pros and cons since they all seem to intertwine so I’m just gonna share my notes with you guys J

My Notes:

Natalie is my honest to God favorite character in this book followed in a close second by Lulu! And when you meet the crazy Brazilian Lulu you’ll understand. Both girls are flawed, making human mistakes but they are so lovable. Lulu is the fun, beautiful girl you just adore and Natalie is the sweet, somewhat innocent girl trying to do right. Unfortunately, through most of the book, until the last couple of chapters I couldn’t stand the other main character Candace Kanie. Sure she was a strong woman with a drive for success but she was also whiny, a tad snobbish, delusional when dealing with men, overbearing and needy. She basically encompasses all the negative attributes of my and Natalie’s favorite TV girls.

The Romance in this book was perfect with a dash of omg. It had those sweet gooey moments and then sucker punched you with the heart wrenching sob fest moments. I loved CJ and Natalie. As for Damon, I really tried to hate him, I swear but he’s like a bad puppy that pees on your carpet then looks at you with the cute sad puppy eyes and you forget to be mad. It might also have to do with the fact that I’m not a huge Candace fan.

I didn’t like Catalina, not one damn bit, but I’m sure that was the point lol. Truthfully other than how Candace’s story starts out there isn't much wrong with the story and even then it’s not something that’s wrong with the story it’s my personal opinion on one character. And while I thoroughly enjoyed it I will admit to some adjustment issues with the era. The story takes place in the 90s and whether it’s the books I've read recently or just cluelessness on my part I had trouble picturing the girls in the 90s. It took some time getting used to the difference but maybe mid book I fell into the flow of things and didn’t think much of it.

4 Quills

Honestly, I’d recommend it to all lovers of Romance. But keep in mind my recommendation comes with a warning stamped on it, it’s an opener of a series so don’t expect everything wrapped up all pretty in a perfect bow. It has a strong liking to Sex & the City, with the whole girlfriends in the 90s living in NY, bumbling through life and romance with drinks in their hands down to the breakfast/brunch. It has betrayal, it obviously has romance galore and it’s definitely a friendship feel good… how could I not recommend it!
