Flirting with Disaster Book Review

Flirting with Disaster
Ava Catori & Olivia Rigal

Genre: Romance
Release Date: July 5, 2015
Publisher: Lady O Publishing

ISBN: 9781514762165
ASIN: B01131TEW4

Pages: 162

Goodreads Rating: 4.27
My Rating: 4.0

Book Description:

Barbara Johnson dreaded going home. It was a simple job to close a factory. She’d done it several times before. What made this time different was being forced back to the very town she’d fled years ago hoping never to return.
Ryder Bishop was strong and sexy. A ladies' man who reserved his loyalty to Ocean Crest, New Jersey. The last thing he expected was to fall for the plentiful figure of the enemy. So when Barbara’s curves called to him he realized it meant trouble.

Were they both flirting with disaster?

My Take:

That was actually pretty cute and sweet.

If I'm honest, I didn't really like Ryder at first. He came off as a shallow misogynist and everything he said and did made me want to punch him. But he's short of like a stray puppy... once you get past the inevitable stink and matted mangy fur you see these adorable eyes that make you fall in love and want to keep him.

Ryder's character takes some getting used to but he definitely grows on you... and I couldn’t help but root for the couple once he pulled his chauvinistic head out of his ass.

I did enjoy the change of pace, if you're looking for a story where bullied picked on outcast falls hard and in turn makes her tormentor love her then this is NOT the book for you.

Once I got over my dislike for Ryder and his character started to grow on me I found myself really enjoying the book even if I felt like his transformation was a little too fast. People don't go from jackass to sweetheart in 1 day, so that took away from the realism.

4 Quills

All in all, I enjoyed the book and its characters. I found the romance to be refreshing in some respects such as Barbara being the more financially stable as well as it not being your typical set up.

About The Authors

Ava Catori

I spend my days tied to my keyboard, being happiest there. With a passion for storytelling, I get lost in the details of building characters and analyzing their thoughts. With a conversational tone, I entertain with fast, fun reads. There’s nothing I like more than putting a couple together, only to tear them apart so they can find their way back to one another.

I live in New Jersey, but sneak away to Florida as often as I'm able. I'm happily married to a patient man who has the ability to sustain long hours of rambling thoughts spilling from me non-stop. With the company of three dogs and a cat, I set my writing schedule around their inability to coordinate their potty breaks. :)

Olivia Rigal

Born in Manhattan, I spent her youth going back and forth between the United States and France.

I lived and studied law in both countries.

While studying I kept herself busy with a variety of jobs.

I worked in the Clignancourt Flea Market as well as in a Parisian recording studio.

In Manhattan, I was a dog groomer and then an administrative assistant in a famous English auction house.

I settled in France to raise my family and travelled throughout South East Asia. I have a special fondness for Laos and Thailand.

When my law practice does not keep me busy in Paris, I run away to write novels in her Florida home next to MacArthur Beach State Park.

In December 2012 I started publishing short novels in English as an independent. Early 2014, I began translating them into French.

The story I tell stand alone. However, my characters often meet so you can run into them again in several stories.

A heart-warming, sexy new stand-alone holiday novella from New York Times bestselling author Melody Grace!

My Take On The Book:

I really loved this book. It was an awesome read with the perfect mixture of sweet and sexy. I loved the characters and the progression of the romance. It was a really short read taking me a little over half an hour to read thru it but it was worth it. I can definitely see what the appeal of this series is. the author did a great job of putting us right in the situation. I didn't feel any disconnect with the characters even if it was a short read. Everything was easy to follow and felt natural. I can def. see myself picking up other books from this series because I enjoyed this one so much.

My only complaint was that I felt like the story may have ended too soon for my liking BUT not too soon for the story. I loved the characters and their chemistry so much I wanted to read more and unfortunately, as this was not a full length novel I couldn't.

Duality Principle Review + #Giveaway

Duality Principle
Rebecca Grace Allen
Genre: Erotica Romance
Release Date: November 11th, 2014
Publisher: Samhain Publishing

ISBN: 9781619223707
ASIN: B00M3XTPU8
Pages: 132

Goodreads Rating:  3.94
My Rating: 5.0

Book Description:

Sometimes A + B = O. Yes. Oh, yes. Just like that.

Gabriella Evans’s life exists in terms of logic and definitions. She’s holed up in Portland, Maine, for the summer to work on her PhD thesis, but something is screwing up her concentration: the rumble of a motorcycle every time the embodiment of her rough-and-tumble fantasies rides down her street.

When her best friend talks her into a blind date, she finds herself out with the opposite of her fantasy. He’s polite and well-mannered, yet something behind his crisply tailored shirt doesn’t add up—a rebellious gleam in his eye that piques her curiosity.

Orphaned at fifteen, Connor Starks has finally put the years of failing grades, breaking laws and breaking hearts behind him. The only holdover? His penchant for getting down and dirty in public places. But Gabriella makes him want to prove he’s become a better man.
Nothing intrigues Gabriella more than a problem she can’t solve. But the more Connor tries to bury his past, the more determined she is to uncover it. And what she finds makes all her trusty logic begin to fail her…

Warning: This book contains a summer romance, dirty talk, dockside kissing, motorcycles and tattoos. Features a rebellious nerdy girl with an appetite for outdoor sex and light spanking, and a bad boy who’s turned good…or at least he’s trying.

My Take On The Book:

When I read the synopsis of this book I was super excited to jump into a new type of book as all I've been reading lately is paranormal. That would have more to do with where my mind has been like lately, the only exception being the True North Series. I was also slightly excited cause the model on the cover reminded me of the actress that play Felicity Smoak on Arrow ^-^.
It was fun & flirty & definitely a breath of fresh air!

The Great (Pros):
  • Characters. I loved the characters and that this wasn't your a-typical romance. Each had their own set of hurdles to overcome so it wasn't a case of guy effs up or vice versa but a nice mix of the 2 characters coming together and expirencing a romance all of their own and learning how to fold that in with their lives.
  • Storyline. The storyline, while focused on the romance of Gabby and Connor, is a nice blast of fresh air in the romance department.
  • Romance. I don't think I've fallen in love with another coupling as much as I did with these 2 characters. It was cute and definitely hot where it needed to be.
  • Duality. I loved that whole story was based on this principle. It was interesting ad made the book have that different wow factor. I think this on its own could have been the reason the book was so refreshing. I can't really name a book I've read lately that is anything like this one.

The Not So Great (Cons):

  • Predictability. While the story was different and a breath of fresh air there were some very predictable parts. It's hard to remove predictability in books especially from someone who reads as much as I do so it didn't affect the raiting but I would have like less predicatbility or those parts done is such a wow factory way that it doesn't even irk the reader.
5 Quills

Its a definite must read and a short one at that. the book only took me about an hour, maybe 2 to read but i loved every second. If you like intensity but fun and quirky characters then there is no better read for you. It calls to the inner nerd in all of us. A realistic read that sizzles and inspires laughter.

Out of Control by Nina Croft Reveiw

Out of Control
Babysitting a Billionaire
Book #1
Nina Croft

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: April 28, 2014
Publisher: Entangled Publishing, LLC (Brazen)

ISBN: 978-1622665433
ASIN: B00IQOC3TI
Pages: 250

Goodreads Rating:  3.64
My Rating: 4.5

Book Description:

She’s a challenge he can’t resist.

Hollywood heartthrob Zachary Hunter loves women—as long as they don’t want more than a little fun in the bedroom. When his most recent movie stirs up the wrong kind of attention, the kind that includes an attempt on his life, he hires a friend’s company to locate the threat. The pint-sized redhead assigned to protect him isn’t what he expects—or wants. Worse, he can’t take his eyes off of her.

After ten years in the army, Danielle Sinclair knows how to handle men. With a new security gig to pass the time until she’s cleared to return to the military, she’s figures her sexy new client will be easy to manage. And then he opens his gorgeous mouth, and she can’t decide whether to kiss him or kill him. His sex appeal may tempt her into his bed, but his sexist attitude is unbearable, and she’s going to make him eat every single word…

My Take On The Book:

Nina Croft has done it again. She never ceases to amaze and please. This book is no exception; delivering a sizzling read mixed with action, suspense, and romance. With a strong female lead in the form of Army Sergeant Dani and a swoon worthy male in the form of sexy writer Zach, you have the beginnings of a recipe for a great read. But Ms. Croft does you one better and actually delivers a great story to go with the steamy romance and fan yourself scenes.

I might be a bit biased being a short (5’0) kick ass, take no prisoners girl myself BUT I’m sure this is a great read and the character Dani will worm her way into your hearts just as she did mine and leading male Zach. This is definitely one read that will surprise and captivate. There were plenty of times I was sure I knew what was going to happen and then poof, something else happened and I realized I was wrong...

It’s a short read, taking me no more than 2 hours to read, but that might have more to do with my inability to put the book down and my need to devour it and see how it all panned out. But it was how it flowed from one chapter to the next, time jumps and all that made this such an easy read.

4.5 Quills

The book reminds me vaguely of the ‘In Death’ series by JD Robb. Not so much the storyline but more to do with the kickass female lead and the steamy scenes. Its not round the clock action but a slow build of romance and the getting to know each other of two great characters.

About The Author
