Book Description:
Mandy
McKinney lives the charmed life. She is beautiful, athletic, popular, dating
the hottest jock in school, and certainly doesn't have any time for her loser
twin sister. But Mandy also has a secret. When the truth is unveiled, her world
is twisted upside down, and her very life is at stake.
Mandy's
twin sister, Brianna, has never had any success in the dating department. When
Brianna finally meets the guy of her dreams, it turns out that he has secrets
of his own. Dangerous secrets. Just her luck.
The twins
are about to be swept away into a world of beauty and power beyond their
wildest imaginations where nothing is what is seems, danger is lurking in the
shadows, and their only chance of survival is finding themselves, and each
other, once again.
My
Take On The Book:
Witches and vampires, what can go wrong… I’ve asked
myself that question on multiple different occasions before reading a book.
While I truly enjoyed this book, I felt as if there was just an overload of
supes and info. Parts of it seemed to loosely written and not cohesive with the
story that was originally created. (gasp, Tipsy used a big word ;) lol ) As it stands, many of you might have noticed the influx of stories based on Witches and magic in my reviews. I've kinda fallen into the magic bandwagon and plan to read tons of witchy book beofre the release of my first full length novel. This book fit that description to a t. It had all the aspects I was looking for and then some. Unfortunately that 'and then some' is what threw me off.
One second we’re dealing with witches and the next
you’ve got an influx of different supes and some waving of the hands and some
weird hybrids things roaming around. I struggled to keep up and immerse myself
in the book fully and that was a tad depressing on my part. The author has a
strong sense of story telling and you can see it in every word she writes but
she lost me sometime after the half way point where it seemed as if she didn’t
know what to do with the characters or how to end the tale so she took us on
another adventure. But kudos to the romances and plot twists… it was a definite
plus and kept me reading on when I worried that this book wasn’t for me. I
genuinely enjoyed the book and hope that the ending was a heads up to readers
that there is indeed a part 2. If there is you can bet your bottom dollars that
I will be reading it and reviewing.
4 Quills
In truth the only reason I felt so lost was the last
quarter of the book. Some people enjoy the hybrid thing, I am not one of them.
Those characters are more of a turn off for me and feel like a cop out for the
writer to create such an OP supe.
