Book Description:

Juliana Norris, Realm Walker with the Agency, is an Altered. A fact that she runs up against every time she’s forced to work with human police officers, and their species-ist commissioner, on cases they can’t solve themselves. Which happens more than they would like to admit.

Her gift—the quality that makes her the best Realm Walker in the business, without boast—is the ability to read magical signatures. Whether the gift came from her father, the dark fae god of death, or the mage mother she can’t remember, is anyone’s guess. And when Altered children start going missing with only wild magical signatures as clues, her heritage is the last thing on her mind.

She can’t afford such distractions, and she definitely can’t afford to worry about the fact that her mate, master vampire Thomas Kendrick, hasn’t spoken to her since she saved him from a demon—maybe it’s because she had to stab him to do so. Because whoever is kidnapping these children must be very powerful to wield wild magic. Very powerful, and very dangerous indeed.

Charles Morgan is in control of the Kansas City area, making a rich living off his various enterprises. Juliana goes undercover at the strip club Lust and gets sucked into his dark, decadent world. More victims turn up and the Agency is positive they’ve got their man, but Juliana is not so sure. When the Agency refuses to listen, she reluctantly turns to Thomas for help. He intervenes but finds Juliana unaware of the danger she is in and discovers she may just be too deep for him to save.

My Take on The Series:

I don't know what to say about these books.

And that is most definitely a good thing.

It's hard not describing this series book by book. But, if I did then I would most definitely give a LOT away and this post would be almost criminally long.

What I will say is that these new installments are are absolutely amazing and a perfect follow up to a great book 1! You can read my review of book 1 here.

As far as in depth reviews go, read on... I'll try to keep it as short and to the point as possible.

Book 2

I forgot how much I love Juliana and Thomas. I forgot how much I love this world. It was great to rush back into one of the first book series I read and reviewed on this blog. Just like in book 1, you're given the vivid and detailed world with this headstrong and Noble and fierce female lead who will stop at nothing to catch the bad guy. She's a great lead for a great series.

The romance in this book was a bit more dominant than in book 1 but that is to be expected as the storylines progressed and the characters rekindle. I was actually happy about that, because while I enjoy books that don't fully focus on romance, especially when you have such strong female leads that are capable without a man, it is nice to see the follow-up novel give more life to the couple that you learn to fall in love with.

But I do warn you, that as amazing as this book is, it is extremely heartbreaking. There are few parts in particular that will tug at your heartstrings, and give you that tickle in the back of your throat that Warren you of the tears you're about to shed. I can definitely attest to both of those.

Book 3

As much as I love Juliana, and I love how self- sufficient she is, I was really happy to get more of Thomas. His character was really intriguing in book 1 and I was happy to get a little more of him in this book. His interactions with Juliana are on point and believable, or as believable as a vampire - fae witch romance can be in a world surrounded by magic and supernatural beings.

In this book she's on a case that she's adamant about solving herself all while dealing with some of her own insecurities following the tragedy that occurred in book 2.

The Turning of Michael...

By far one of the best glimpses into the life of a character you know almost nothing about but love intensely from book 1. Its an uber short book that I got through in about 20 minutes because I'm a weird anomaly and I go through books like their were going out of style (never I hope!).

5 Quills

Each book has its one flare and can stand up on its own. Each book was subsequent more 'delicious' than the last pulling me to an in and reading till I was either passed out from exhaustion or I had finished reading by them.
